Pacquiao admits he thought of resigning ‘many times’ before

Senator Manny Pacquiao on Tuesday admitted that he has thought of resigning from his post “many times” before, saying he feels discouraged by fellow politicians who have hidden agendas.

Pacquiao said this to the media in an interview when he was asked of his opinion about Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson running for senator in 2019.

Pacquiao said those who deserve to be in government are officials who intend to serve the Filipino, especially the poor, honestly.

“Alam mo sa totoo lang, ang nadiskubre ko parang kung tatanungin mo ako ngayon, sa politika, parang gusto ko ma-dismaya, ma-discourage. Gusto ko umayaw na ganito pala yung politika. Kasi hindi ako marunong mamulitika eh,” Pacquiao said.

“Sinabi ko nga sa asawa ko, ‘parang gusto ko mag-resign’ pero pag umayaw ako sa politika, sino na lang may tao na may puso at sino ang tao na magserbisyo sa gobyerno?” he added.

He said government officials who have experienced poverty are those who are in a better position to help the poor.

“The rich people, alam nila yung problem ng mga mahihirap pero hindi nila nararamdaman. Iba yung nalaman mo yung problem ng mga mahihirap at nararamdaman mo,” he said.

He said he will think carefully about running for reelection in 2022.

“Pagiisipan kong mabuti yan kasi itong first term ko, gusto ko talagang magampanan trabaho ko, matulungan mga naghihirap pero malayo pa yan, 2022 pa yan at pray natin na gabayan ang ating bansa ng ating Panginoon,” Pacquiao said.

Asked on the possibility of running for president, Pacquiao said: “Ito lang masasabi ko sa lahat especially yung mga nag-aspire maging presidente, it is impossible to become a president without the approval from God.”

Pacquiao, meanwhile, slammed President Rodrigo Duterte’s critics, questioning why they refuse to support a chief executive who has a good vision for the country's future.

“Ayaw ko pangalanan, mag-init lang ulo ko. Buti na lang hindi ako si Duterte. Ayaw ko magsalita ng bad word pero nagagalit ako sa mga ganyan,” he said. — RSJ, GMA News
