Robredo camp asks PET to follow Comelec threshold for shaded ovals

The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo has asked the Presidential Electoral Tribunal to follow the threshold set by the Commission on Elections for shading of ballots.

The Robredo camp filed an urgent ex-parte motion to follow the 25 percent threshold set by the Comelec, instead of the 50 percent threshold set by the PET in a 2010 regulation as the manual vote recount in relation to the poll protest filed by former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

In its motion, the Robredo camp argued: "The application of the fifty percent (50%) threshold percentage has resulted to and will result to a systematic decrease in the votes received by protestee Robredo."

"Hindi magkaintindihan kung ano ba 'yung threshold na tinitingnan nila. Even the head revisors... 25 percent na 'yan eh. Meron pang 50 percent. Sa kanilang tingin, kulang pa sa threshold," said Robredo lawyer Romulo Macalintal.

But the Marcos camp maintains that the PET regulations must be followed.

"We'll follow the rules of procedure ng Tribunal, hindi ng Comelec, kasi 'yung resolusyon na iyon patungkol sa pag-conduct ng eleksyon. Tapos na po tayo doon," said Marcos spokesman Vic Rodriguez. —JST, GMA News
