2ND TIME IN 3 WEEKS

Another Chinese aircraft seen landing at Davao airport

Another Chinese aircraft — the second in three weeks — was spotted landing at the Davao  International Airport past Saturday noon, amid the supposed militarization of disputed areas in the West Philippine Sea.

A report on GMA News' 24 Oras Weekend said the Chinese government plane could be seen from the parking lot at the airport.

Several individuals, including policemen, inside the airport tarmac stopped GMA News from shooting video of the Chinese plane.

They said approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines was needed.

GMA News has already contacted the CAAP, Malacañang, and the Department of Foreign Affairs, but has yet to receive any response.

Earlier this month, an aircraft belonging to the Chinese military was spotted to have landed at the same airport.

In a Facebook post, military historian and defense analyst Jose Antonio Custodio shared a screenshot of the aircraft, an IL-76 military transport plane, which reportedly belongs to the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

Special Assistant to the President Bong Go would later confirm the landing of the Chinese military aircraft, but said it was only for refueling.

Go said technical stops of foreign government and commercial planes such as for purposes of refueling are coordinated closely by concerned agencies of the Philippine government following established domestic procedure and considering existing agreements. — MDM, GMA News
