TESDA chief Lapeña tests positive for COVID —Villanueva

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director Isidro Lapeña has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019, Senator Joel Villanueva announced Saturday.

In a message to reporters, Villanueva said that Lapeña's case was confirmed this Saturday.

“Secretary Lapeña on the other hand tested negative when he went to Senate. He was with me almost the whole time but we were both wearing face mask and face shield,” Villanueva said in a Viber message.

Meanwhile, the senator said the result of his own test for COVID-19 was negative.

“Yes, we were among those who were tested, and glad to share that it is negative. We enjoin everyone to continue exercising the necessary precautions and safety protocols,” according to Villanueva.

Earlier reports indicate that Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa has tested positive for COVID-19.

People present at the Senate on Wednesday have been advised to quarantine themselves.

The Philippines has reported a total of 416,852 confirmed cases with 375,548 recoveries and 8,080 fatalities. —LBG, GMA News
