Two men were killed in a police buy bust operation in Cagayan de Oro City after they resisted arrest.

The suspects were identified as Ernesto Bradero from Tagoloan in Misamis Oriental and Carmelito Salvedas from Lala in Lanao del Norte.

Carmen Police Station Commander Chief Insp. Ritchie Salva said the buy bust operation was conducted on Wednesday afternoon at the Xavier Heights subdivision in Upper Balulang, Cagayan de Oro City.

Bradero and Salvedas had a hunch that they were dealing with the police, so they pulled out a grenade and threw this at the police, who fired shots at them.

Both suspects, the police said, were known carnappers and drug pushers in the city.

Salvedas was previously imprisoned for charged related to Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act three years ago, 2014.

The police seized drug paraphernalia, 2 sachets of suspected shabu, P300 worth of buy bust money, an empty shell and slug for a 9 mm pistol, and a motorcycle that police believed was stolen. — GMA News stringer Michael Tolang/BAP, GMA News
