CamSur representatives Andaya, Villafuerte lock horns over alleged harassment of residents

Camarines Sur First District Representative Rolando Andaya, Jr. and Camarines Sur 2nd District Representative L-Ray Villafuerte were involved in a scuffle at the Pili, Camarines Sur police station.

In Joseph Morong's report on 24 Oras on Thursday, Andaya was seen challenging Villafuerte, who was inside the police station, to a fight.

"Aabangan kita, pare," the congressman said.

Andaya later explained in an interview that he was leading a protest of Pili residents against Villafuerte who allegedly harrassed them by dumping truckloads of soil in their area.

"Dumating 'yung mga tauhan ni L-Ray...Nag-dumping ng tatlong dump truck loads ng buhangin d'un sa may Barangay San Agustin ng Pili," Andaya said.

He also claimed Villafuerte was the first to ask for a fight.

"Unfortunately, nand'un po si Congressman L-Ray at bigla na lang po akong sinigawan ng 'ano?' 'Yung naghahamon ho ng suntukan," he said.

The video shows his reaction to the challenge set up Villafuerte.

"'Yun ho 'yung masaklap d'un. 'Pag 'yung paputol-putol 'yung kwentong binibigay nila," he added.

Villafuerte said he was at the police station to report Andaya and his men for allegedly assaulting his personnel.

"May tumawag na may insidente raw na binugbog ni Andaya 'yung mga Sagip Kalikasan kasama ng kanyang mga body guard," he said.

Villafuerte said he plans to file a case against Andaya.

"Physical injury 'yung ginagawa po niya. 'Yung maliliit na tao, inosenteng tao ay pinagbubugbog niya, sinakal niya," he said.

Villafuerte's staff also claimed that the Pili residents with Andaya were carrying knives during the protest, even as they reportedly agreed to clear out the soil.

Andaya accused Villafuerte of harassing farmers to sell off their lands for a cheap price.

"Ito'y issue po d'un sa barangay du'n sa mga may-ari ng mga palayan du'n na mawawalan ng kabuhayan," he said.

Villafuerte argued that the land was needed for the expansion of the Naga International Airport.

"Hinaharang nila 'yung project. National government project po 'yan," Villafuerte said. — Margaret Claire Layug/BAP, GMA News
