Death toll in Naga City, Cebu landslide rises to 43; several still missing

The death toll in the landslide in Naga City, Cebu rose to 43 on Sunday afternoon, GMA News' Sandra Aguinaldo reported.

Search and rescue personnel took advantage of the good weather on Sunday to continue their efforts, Aguinaldo reported on Super Radyo dzBB.

Many volunteers also arrived Sunday along with rescuers from Metro Manila who had equipment to detect signs of life.

On Sunday, heavy rains forced authorities to call off the search and rescue operations earlier.

Residents were evacuated assisted by police and volunteers for their safety.

Some 30 houses were buried in the landslide that struck early Thursday morning in Barangay Naalad and Sitio Sindulan in Barangay Tinaan. —KG/BM, GMA News
