PBA: Tim Cone looks forward to coaching vs Pacquiao, promises not to take it easy

With Chris Algieri in his rearview mirror, Manny Pacquiao is now free to come back to the Kia Sorento, where he serves as playing coach in the PBA.

 

The expansion squad's next assignment comes on Wednesday against the Purefoods Star Hotshots, led by the legendary Tim Cone.

 

The American coach expressed excitement about the possibility of coaching against the Filipino ring icon.

 

"No doubt, this is a tale to tell my grandchildren," Cone told GMA News Online in a text message.

 

After a characteristically slow start, the Star Hotshots have won their last three games. Against a Kia team that has lost its last seven games, Cone and his wards are guarding against a letdown.

 

"We talked about being opportunistic in this game and to make sure we go away with a W," he said. "It's a great honor to be on the court with Manny Pacquiao, but once the game starts, no quarter given.
