Brewery makes beer from vaginal yeast

This is one beer that even the most hardened drinkers may think twice about putting to their lips.

The Order of Yoni, a Poland-based brewing company, is crowdfunding to to raise about $170,000, United Press International reported, to help fund their venture to manufacture beer using vaginal bacteria.

“Using hi-tech of microbiology, we isolate, examine and prepare lactic acid bacteria from vagina of a unique woman,” the company said in their website.

Yoni is the Sanskrit word for vagina.

“Yoni is a sacred Hindu name of vagina and it symbolizes our respect to vagina as a sacrum. In Indian and many of other cultures sexuality including vagina are parts of sacrum, are respected and we are convinced such respect should be also present in our modern Western culture,” the company said in their website.

The product will be called Bottled Instinct. The source of its vaginal yeast will be from a Czech model Alexandra Brendlova. She will also be the face of the product in advertisements.

“We selected a beautiful, very intelligent woman for our first beer and she personifies beauty, intelligence and will be an inspiration for our future models,” they said.

Queasy as it may sound, the company assured that the yeast will be processed thoroughly, making sure that only the lactobacillus bacteria is present in the final product.

“Vaginal lactobacillus bacteria are transferred from a mother to a child during childbirth, so mother’s Yoni bacteria are becoming part of child’s immune system,” the Order of Yoni said.

With this, the company believes the beer is a tribute to mothers and to the act of childbirth.

“It is far, far from disrespect for a woman,” the company stated. — Kiersnerr Gerwin Tacadena/TJD, GMA News
