Mayon takes on Super Blue Blood Moon


Mount Mayon seemed to compete with the spectacle of the once-in-a-lifetime Super Blue Blood Moon Tuesday night as the volcano released a stream of lava.

The photos collected into a video were taken from Camalig posted on Twitter by GMA News' Raffy Tima showed the glowing display and at night was backdropped by a starry sky.

Meanwhile, social media was abuzz with photos of the Super Blue Blood Moon taken by both amateur and professional shutterbugs.

PAGASA said the last occurrence of the Super Blue Blood Moon was in 1886.

The captivating celestial phenomenon was also seen from the Philippines was also visible from in western South America, North America, Asia, Australia, the Middle East, eastern Africa, eastern Europe, the Pacific Ocean, and the Indian Ocean.

The lunar show was visible by 5:42 p.m and was set to appear in its fullest red color from 8:51 p.m. through 10:07 p.m. and will last until a few minutes after midnight. — BAP, GMA News
