Scattered rainshowers expected over Metro Manila

The southwest monsoon will be affecting the country, PAGASA reported in its early morning forecast.

The state weather bureau continues to monitor Tropical Depression Maria, which is 1,05 kilometers northwest of extreme northern Luzon outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center with gustiness of up to 60 kph moving in the west northwest direction at 30 kph.

There will be monsoon rains in MIMAROPA, western Visayas, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite and Batangas due to the southwest monsoon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by the southwest monsoon.

Residents in all these areas are warned against possible flash floods due to light to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The winds in the western section of southern Luzon will be strong to gale moving in the southwest direction while coastal waters are rough to very rough.

The winds for the rest of Luzon and western Visayas will be strong moving in the southwest direction while coastal waters are moderate to occasionally rough.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds moving in the southwest direction. The coastal waters will be slight to moderate. — BAP, GMA News
