Magazine featuring new Eraserheads songs sells out on first day

Just like in the '90s, the Eraserheads continue to sell out records.

The first batch of Esquire Philippines featuring the band's first new songs in over a decade were sold out on Thursday, the first day it was available on news stands, according to a report by Aubrey Carampel on "Saksi." According to the publisher, a second batch of magazines were being delivered to stores.

"It's unprecedented, it's a historic thing. I mean, to have the Eraserheads and to have their two new songs that are exclusively with the issue of Esquire," said Erwin Romulo, editor-in-chief of the magazine.

Esquire celebrated the launch with an event on Thursday at Makati Shangri-La. Ely Buendia, Raymund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro surprised the audience with an unplanned set featuring some of their hits.

During their heyday in the '90s, the Eraserheads set music industry records with their albums such as "Circus" and "Cutterpillow," whose release became much-anticipated events for eager fans.

The two new songs — "Sabado" and "1995" — are only available on purchasing the magazine, which includes a CD with the sleeve design by artist Cynthia Bauzon Arre, who also designed several Eraserheads albums. — Marisse Panaligan/JST, GMA News
