Captain Argus from ‘Descendants of the Sun’ is in Manila


"Descendants of the Sun" actor David Lee McInnis, known for his role as Captain David Argus, is in Manila for a vacation.

The German actor arrived in the country Tuesday night.

In an exclusive interview with GMA News, McInnis said that he will be staying in the Philippines for three days.

"I'm here on vacation. I will go see my friend's restaurant opening so I'm just here for three days. I'm really looking forward to being here. I've always want to come here so I can't wait to get some Filipino food right now," McInnis said.

McInnis, who has been in the TV industry in South Korea for 20 years, shared that he has a lot of projects lined up for fans.

"There's just lots of opportunities in Seoul, Korea," McInnis said.

"The content that they put out is really valuable," he added.

He also mentioned that he recently met with Song Joong Ki during the premiere of the film "Battleship." McInnis said that they remained friends even after the filming of "Descendants of the Sun."

"I just had drinks with them a couple of... was it just 2 weeks ago and I got invited to the wedding, which is super cool," McInnis said.

Asked whether he knew about the relationship of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, McInnis said that everyone in their set was not aware of it.

"I was like 'Are you serious?'" he said. "No, because they never let out anything during production."

"I was like 'So... what's going on?' He was like, yeah. We weren't really gonna get married now, but we're gonna wait, but we figured this is a good time for both of us," he added.

Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Ko who played the roles of Captain Yoo Si Jin and Doctor Kang Mo Yeon in the hit K-Drama, which aired in the Philippines on GMA in 2016, are set to get married on October 31. — Marlly Rome Bondoc / AT, GMA News
