Legendary songwriter Vehnee Saturno signs deal with GMA

The legendary songwriter behind such hits as "Till My Heartaches End", "Sana Kahit Minsan", "Mister Kupido", and "Dahil Tanging Ikaw" officially became a Kapuso on Friday.

Vehnee Saturno signed a contract with GMA Records for the rights to 27 songs from his extensive repertoire for six years.

"Finally, meron kaming magiging partnership. As in nag-sign ako ng publishing agreement with GMA (for) 27 songs in the period of six years," he told GMA News during the signing.

"Sila ang pinaka-administrator n'on for six years and i-exploit nila 'yong mga songs, gagamitin sa mga teleserye," Saturno added jokingly.

Saturno has been writing songs since 1981 and he shared that he's very thankful that a partnership with GMA has finally materialized.

"Noong tinawagan ako ni Rene (Salta, GMA Records Managing Director), siyempre super happy dahil for a songwriter na binigyan ka ng ganitong opportunity, isa-sign-up 'yong mga existing catalogue mo and gagamitin nila, i-e-exploit nila sa mga programa, e napa-kahappy ng feeling ng isang songwriter. Sobrang sarap, sobrang saya," Saturno said.

He added that he is looking forward to reaching a new generation of fans as his songs return to TV. "Alam naman natin na TV is the most powerful place para maging sikat at makilala 'yong mga songs."

Salta told GMA News that the partnership is mutually beneficial, as GMA now has a "library of teleserye theme songs." —JST/KVD, GMA News
