Pia Wurtzbach to Rachel Peters: 'Keep your head up. We’re all so proud of you'


Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach on Instagram dedicated a message to Rachel Peters, who represented the country in this year's pageant.

Wurtzbach posted a photo of the crowning moment of the new Miss Universe Demi Leigh Nel-Peters, and in the caption she addressed messages to Demi, Rachel, her successor and outgoing Miss Universe french beauty queen Iris Mittenaere, and the rest of the women of Miss Universe 2017.

“Congratulations to our new Miss Universe @demileighnp from South Africa! A well-deserved win! We can’t wait to witness your journey as Miss Universe,” Pia wrote to Demi.

She also complimented the successful reign of Miss Universe 2016 Iris: “To @irismittenaeremf I’m so proud of you. You had an amazing reign as Miss Universe. I’m so happy that we got along so well and I gained a friend in you.”

 

Pia also expressed her appreciation to Rachel: “And to @rachelpetersx, thank you for making us proud. Sitting on the other side, it was so nice to witness a Miss Philippines perform and have the loudest cheer in the crowd. Keep your head up. We’re all so proud of you.”

She additionally sent her love to all the beauty queens of the 66th Miss Universe, “To the women of Miss Universe 2017, continue to inspire and empower like the true champions that you are.”

Wurtzbach sat as one of the telecast judges of Miss Universe 2017, other telecast judges include American TV personality Ross Mathews, Venezuelan-American internet personality and actress Lele Pons, TV host and former America's Next Top Model creative director Jay Manuel, UFC Ultimate insider host Megan Olivi and lawyer, and Trinidadian lawyer, actress, model, singer and beauty queen Wendy Fitzwilliam.

South African beauty queen Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was crowned as the new Miss Universe, while Jamaica's Davina Bennett is Miss Universe 2nd runner-up, while Colombia Laura Gonzalez is first runner-up. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
