GNO, GMA shows to get citations at 1st NCST Dangal ng Bayan Awards

GMA News Online (GNO), together with other Kapuso shows and personalities, will receive awards at the first National College of Science and Technology (NCST) Dangal ng Bayan Awards in Dasmariñas City, Cavite on Friday.

GNO, the online platform of the GMA News and Public Affairs, will get the NCST Dangal ng Bayan Media Excellence Award for Information Technology and Innovation under the category NCST Dangal ng Bayan Excellence Award.

Other awardees include  24 Oras (GMA 7), Power House (GMA 7), GMA Network, Pop Talk (GMA News TV), and Biyahe ni Drew (GMA News TV).

Meanwhile, Miguel Tanfelix and Marian Rivera-Dantes are the Kapuso personalities who will also receive awards.

"NCST, known for their commitment in nation building, established the 1st NCST Dangal ng Bayan Awards to give recognition to the individuals and institutions that embraced the same principle dedicated themselves to the responsibility of becoming agents of change to make a difference for this nation," the school said in a statement.

"NCST Dangal ng Bayan Awards is the first nationalist award given by NCST to the deserving men and women who excel in their fields, and who advocate democratic rights and interest and give inspiration to our youth to strive more for genuine transformation," it added. 

Winners were selected through voting by the six departments of NCST last October 2017.

On November 25, 2017, NCST students also voted for "men, women, TV programs, and institution who inspired them to excel in their chosen fields."

The NCST is an educational institution in Dasmariñas, Cavite, "engaged in the research and development of new courses, as well as the enhancement of existing curricula and the further improvement of its facilities to support the various program offerings." —LBG/FRJ, GMA News
