Kapuso oppa Alexander Lee and fellow Korean artist Marucci make up the 'AXM' duo

Kapuso oppa Alexander Lee is back in Manila and ready to return to the music scene — this time as part of the AXM duo.

AXM, you may ask? It stands for Alexander X Marucci, as fellow Korean artist Marucci is the other half of the two-man band.

In a media conference at KPub restaurant on Monday, Alexander narrated how he and his friend Marucci ended up collaborating for songs.

He revealed that he first time he met Marucci is at the set of his GMA drama last year My Korean Jagiya, but they only got to talk about music when he flew back to Korea.

"We met on the set of My Korean Jagiya [but] we didn't really talk about anything back then. After I went back to Korea, suddenly we were just talking about it casually. I had the passion of doing music again, he is a very good musician, he composes all his music, I was like 'oh, nice vision so why don't we do something together' and viola we have this AXM project here," Alexander said.

At the press conference, AXM introduced two of their songs: the mellow "Keep Ya Head Up" one is a mellow song "Keep Ya Head Up," and the other is a fun single S.M.N., which Alexander said perfectly suits the party culture in the Philippines."

"We were thinking of doing something suitable for the Filipinos that's why we thought about S.M.N. and we were thinking it's gonna be a fun song, it matches the party culture over here, the liveliness, so we made that one and then we were thinking since we have a fast song,"

"We tried to do a slow song also, and he made this out of expectation, the song is really deep, "Keep Ya Head Up."

Alexander was formerly part of a Korean boy band U-KISS, and when asked if he misses being in a group, he said this time he wants to focus on himself.

"I would say I had my time already. There are pros and cons being in a group, we share the workload, we practice together as a team but now I'm getting old. I have to be independent, I enjoy being around alone, there are pros and cons I do sometimes miss being with U-KISS but it's hard for me to also enjoy solo moment."

His partner Marucci has written songs for Korean commercials, drama OSTs and variety program, he also worked on a single titled "Superman" with Kapuso singer Rita Daniela. — LA, GMA News
