Mark Ruffalo calls Pinoy-made tsinelas Hulk doll ‘pure awesome’

Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo this week sent a shout out to artist Elmer Padilla for his creative use of recycled materials to build a Hulk doll.

"Believe it or not, this #Hulk doll is made out of recycled tsinelas (that's Tagalog for flip-flops)," the actor wrote. "Elmer Padilla made this for me so I just wanted to give a nice shout out. Not only is this inventively creative, but it's sustainable and just pure awesome! Thank you Elmer!"

Padilla previously made headlines for his "Tsinelas Transformers."

In an episode for the GMA Public Affairs program "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho", Padilla revealed that he builds these characters from mere scraps. "Hindi na siya nababasag, nakakatulong pa ako sa kalikasan kasi (gawa lang ito sa) mga retasong tsinelas," Padilla said.

Padilla started crafting these toys from scraps at a young age, because his parents couldn't afford to buy him real toys. "Sapat na sa akin ang mahawakan ko na naka-display," he shared.

Ruffalo's tweet received over 13,000 hearts or likes on Twitter after nine hours, with a number of people replying with praise for Padilla.

"Hulk goes green in more ways than one!" @Jedi_Jill posted in response.

"That's amazing! So creative and ecological! Bravo Elmer!" @SurrocaTeresa added. — AT, GMA News
