Tams trample Warriors for first win

The FEU Tamaraws had five players in double figures as in earned its first win in the UAAP Men’s Basketball competition on Wednesday, 90-83.

Ron Dennison tallied 16 points, while Prince Orizu added 15 rebound to led the Tams, while Barkley Ebona, Richard Escort, and Arvin Tolentino chipped in 11 points each for FEU.

Clark Derige carried UE with 22 points, while Alvin Pasaol added 13 markers, with five more players combining for 34. Derige scored 12 of his points in the second period, when the Red Warriors cut FEU’s 17-point lead to a more manageable 10 at the half,, 52-42.

Alvin Pasaol took over in the third, scoring nine of his team’s 22, but FEU pulled points from all around to keep the lead at double figures heading into the final frame, 75-64.

Derige and Rey Acuno tried to ignite one last run for the Warriors in the fourth, but Dennison and Achie Inigo combined for 11 of FEU’s 15 to put the game away. — LA, GMA News
