Ateneo Blue Eagle Marck Espejo pulled off an impressive double, taking home the regular season MVP award as well as Rookie of the Year, in UAAP Season 76’s men’s volleyball tournament.

Espejo was presented with his trophies in a short ceremony prior to the start of game two of the men’s volleyball finals, Wednesday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Some of Espejo’s teammates also took home awards. JP Pareja was named Best Receiver, and Esmilzo Polvorosa was named Best Setter, as the trio played huge roles in helping the Eagles reach the Finals for the first time in the UAAP.

UST’s Mark Gil Alfafara took home a trio of awards, Best Scorer, Best Attacker and Best Server. Also honored was Julius Raymundo of UP, with the title Best Blocker, and Rence Melgar of Adamson, who was named Best Digger.

None of Ateneo’s finals counterparts from the defending champions NU Bulldogs were given an award, but the top-seeded squad is up one game in the best-of-three series against ADMU. - AMD, GMA News
