Nguyen puts Folayang to sleep to claim ONE lightweight title

ONE featherweight champion Martin Nguyen is ONE Championship’s first ever two-division world champion.

Nguyen came out with a highlight reel knockout victory over Eduard Folayang to snatch the ONE lightweight title in the main event of ‘ONE: Legends of the World’ at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Folayang didn't waste time showing his trademark moves in the first round, launching a wide variety of strikes at Nguyen.

The featherweight champion, however, stood his ground and also threw kicks and punches at the Filipino champion.

Nguyen landed a perfectly timed right hand after Folayang missed a spinning kick, immediately sending the Filipino crashing and was knocked unconscious.

Down and out, the referee immediately stepped in and stopped the contest at the 2:20 mark of round two.

The knockout win improved Nguyen's record to record 10-1 while Folayang fell to 18-6. — BAP, GMA News
