IT firm's subsidiary puts up regional training office

MANILA, Philippines - The United States-based top provider of software-as-a-service (SaaS) on Wednesday announced that it will set up its third regional training center in the Philippines through a subsidiary of listed company IPVG Corp.

In a press briefing, Salesfore.com officials said the Philippine training center will focus on customer relationship management (CRM) applications and Force.com platform which is a developer software delivered using the SaaS business model.

SaaS is a new business model where the software is offered as a service and not as a product. The customer avails of the service on a per-need or on-demand basis and over the internet. Advocates of this new business model claim that this is more cost-effective because the customer pays only for the service when it is needed.

Salesforce.com's third Asia Pacific training center will be housed in the offices of IP-Converge Data Center Inc, the data center subsidiary of IPVG, and authorized consulting partner of Salesforce.com.

The Philippine training center will be an alternative to other regional training sites in Hong Kong and Singapore, Salesforce.com said.

Salesforce.com and IP-Converge officials said setting up of the training center was necessitated by demand for the new business model in the Philippines and in the region.

"The Regional Training Center is being established due to the large customer demand as more and more companies turn to on-demand, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications and subscription-based models to drive business growth and achieve operational efficiency," Salesforce.com said in a statement.

"As salesforce.com becomes more prevalent in the region, we made sure that we have personnel equipped with the right tools to make us the practical destination for Salesforce.com training," said Reynaldo Huergas, president and chief operating officer of IP-Converge. GMANews.TV
