Sine Totoo presents "Born to be Wild"
Episode on January 24, 2009
Saturday, 11:30 p.m.
Two amazing wildlife adventures by Born to be Wild's Doc Ferds Recio and Romi Garduce air in one Sine Totoo episode this Saturday night.
In 2005, a group of cave explorers discovered a cave system in the municipality of Jiabong in Samar. Three years after, Doc Ferds joined the team in exploring this newly-chartered cave. They were amazed to discover the creatures that dwell inside the cold and pitch dark cave - from eyeless crabs, to different spiders, to crickets that float on water. Among these cave-dwellers, could Born to be Wild have found species that are yet to be named?
Last year, Romi traveled to Mt. Kitanglad in Bukidnon to take on the rare experience of observing the endangered Philippine eagle in the wild. There he joined dedicated members of the Philippine Eagle Foundation in monitoring Tinuy-an, a young female eagle released there in June 2008. A month before Romi visited Tinuy-an, her would-be mate Kagsabua, a three-year old eagle, was shot and killed by a local in the area. As Romi and his team captured on video the eagle's natural behavior in the wild, they also urge viewers to search for what more can be done to save these birds from extinction.
Sine Totoo host Howie Severino interviews Born to be Wild segment producers Pia Faustino and Richelle Figueroa. They discuss the experience of being the only female in the crew in physically-challenging wildlife shoots for the show.
Born to be Wild's Jiabong Cave and Philippine Eagle stories air this Saturday night, only on Sine Totoo.
