House sergeant-at-arms passes away
Retired Brigadier General Horacio Lactao, the sergeant-at-arms of the House of Representatives, passed away Wednesday. He was 61.
House Secretary General Marily Barua Yap said in a press statement Thursday that Lactao died of an unspecified illness at the Makati Medical Center.
Lactao graduated from the Philippine Military Academy in 1974. During his stint in the military, he supervised the intelligence and operations fusion of the US, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Philippine National Police against the Abu Sayyaf and Jemaah Islamiya in central Mindanao.
He also supervised Oplan Tornado, an anti-terrorist campaign from July to September 2005.
Lactao also worked as head of the Office of Intelligence & Security at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) prior to his appointment at the House.
Lactao, a native of Ilagan, Isabela, was married to Angeles Roa. They have two children, Michael
