Despite the loss, Alcantara and Golding made a name for themselves after scoring consecutive upset wins against seeded rivals. The 60th ranked Alcantara and the 40th ranked Golding eliminated scored a 4-6, 6-3, [10-5] victory over eighth seeds Filip Horansky and Jozef Kovalik of Slovakia in the Round of 16 then followed it up with another hard-earned 6-3, 4-6, [10-4] decision against the No. 2 pair of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Damir Dzumhur and Croatia’s Mate Pavic in the quarterfinals.
