PHL Senior, Big league teams enter AsPac regional baseball finals

Indonesia helped the Philippines clinch a finals berth in the 2011 Senior League Asia-Pacific Regional baseball tournament after beating Guam, 10-7, Thursday at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium. The Tanauan City-based batters earned a finals spot after winning the tiebreak by yielding the fewest runs in a three-way tied with Indonesia and Guam. The Indonesians, on the other hand, take the finals berth after sweeping Guam in the tournament. The Philippines-Indonesia finals match is at 8 a.m. Friday with the winner representing the Asia-Pacific region in the in the Senior League Baseball World Series on August 14 to 20 in Bangore, Maine. The Indonesians earned a 10-1 lead at the end of the fourth inning but Guam scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth and added one more in the seventh but fell short. International Little League Association of Manila (ILLAM), meanwhile, will face Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) in the big league tournament finals. CNMI earned a finals berth after beating Guam, 7-0, on Thursday. The winner will also represent the Asia-Pacific region this time in the Big League Baseball World Series on July 27 to August 3 in Easley, South Carolina. - Reuben Terrado/JVP, GMA News
