Philippine VP's website redirects to Facebook
After it surprised visitors by displaying online games, the Office of the Vice Presidentâs website is now redirecting them to the Facebook page of Vice President Jejomar Binay. Since Thursday night, visitors to the OVP website (www.ovp.gov.ph) were greeted with a small Facebook logo on the upper left part of the otherwise blank home page. Clicking on the Facebook logo will take the visitor to Binayâs official Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/JCBinay). There was no explanation for the redirecting or whether Thursdayâs incident involving the online games was a hack, at least on the OVP website. As of 4pm Friday, the OVP website still redirected visitors to Binayâs official Facebook page. Earlier Thursday, visitors to the OVP website were surprised to see the contents of the site replaced by a catalog of playable online games. Instead of the usual contents of the OVP site, visitors would see a page with "featured" and "most played" games from AmigoGames.com. There was no indication of any group claiming to attack the site, or that the visitors were being redirected to a third-party site. In past months, the OVP website had been the target of several hacking attacks, including those by the PrivateX hacker group. The past hack attacks would involve defacements of the site, with the contents being altered or with visitors being redirected to a different site. â TJD, GMA News
