The Bureau of Customs and the Philippine Postal Office will be working together to release packages from abroad faster, the two government agencies said Friday. Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon and Philippine Postal Corp. (Philpost) general manager and CEO Josefina Dela Cruz noted the partnership will also strengthen security measures to prevent the loss and pilferage of packages from abroad. The move will largely benefit overseas Filipino workers who send regularly packages to relatives in the Philippines, especially during the Christmas season. “I am glad of this partnership between the BOC and Philpost as it only shows of this government’s desire to provide only the best to the Filipinos," said Biazon. The Philpost area where packages from abroad will be kept is spacious and protected by CCTV, said Dela Cruz. A Customs official and his Philpost counterpart were recently caught on CCTV cameras pilfering packages from abroad.
