Customs seizes misdeclared shipments from US, Korea
Misdeclared shipments from the United States and Korea valued at P20 million were seized at the Port of Manila and will soon be auctioned, Customs Commissioner Rufino Biazon said on Thursday Eleven confiscated container vans contained several motor vehicles, including a Chrysler 300C sedan, a second-hand Hummer, an Aprilia motorcycle and two other unnamed motor vehicles, according to the Bureau of Customs. It identified the consignee of the Hummer and the Chrysler vehicles as one Christina Bitanga McCain. Officials said the consignee may be levied P12 million for violating Section 2530 of the Tariffs and Customs Code of the Philippines (TCCP). Nine of the 11 containers consigned to RMG Trading 99 contained green peas, u-bolts, used shoes and bags, and connectors. One container van had 1,834 boxes of cosmetics.
