Developer uses iPhone 4S' Siri to start car

Siri, the Apple iPhone 4S' personal assistant, may not be able to drive your car but she can at least start it up.

A developer managed to get Siri to start his car's engine by hooking Siri to a proxy server that is connected to his car's system.

"The 'Siri Proxy' plugin I wrote handles interaction with a php script that runs on my web server. The php script, which I developed months ago for personal use, allows me to send commands to my car which has a Viper SmartStart module installed," the developer said.

Among the commands accepted under this setup are:
  •  Vehicle Arm
  •  Vehicle Disarm
  •  Vehicle Start
  •  Vehicle Stop
  •  Vehicle Pop Trunk
  •  Vehicle Panic
It can also respond to "conversational" commands such as "Start my car," "Lock my car," and "Pop my trunk." — LBG, GMA News
