LA Galaxy kicks off Asia-Pacific Tour, visit Manila Dec. 1 - 3
Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup 2011 champion LA Galaxy officially announced over the weekend their travel roster for their three-nation Asia Pacific Tour, which includes the Philippines. The Galaxy will play in Jakarta on Wednesday, November 30, in Manila on December 3 and in Melbourne, Australia on December 6. Leading the tour's roster are MLS Best XI selections David Beckham, Landon Donovan, who was also the MLS Cup MVP, Todd Dunivant, and 2011 MLS Defender of the Year Omar Gonzalez. Only the injured Sean Alvarado, Chad Barrett and Leonardo are not part of the tour, which will see action from 27 of the 30 players that helped the Galaxy win MLS Cup 2011. It will be the first appearance by the Galaxy in both Indonesia and Philippines. The friendly between the Galaxy and the Azkals has been dubbed "Dream Cup 2011" and the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) expects to rake in about P5 million in proceeds, but will be incurring some P4 million in expenses, according to PFF officials. From Manila, the Galaxy will proceed to Australia where "they will conclude their three-game tour against Melbourne Victory of the Hyundai A-League in the Hyundai Melbourne Challenge."
