The weather over Metro Manila Monday is likely to improve from Sunday, but rain remains likely in the afternoon and evening, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

PAGASA forecaster Ben Oris said wind convergence may bring rain particularly to parts of Northern and Central Luzon.

"Maaaring (ang ulan) hanggang ngayong araw sa Northern Luzon. (Ang Metro Manila), medyo maganda ang ating panahon. Magiging … maulap ang papawirin (Rain will still be expected over Northern Luzon. Metro Manila will see improved weather, although it will be partly cloudy)," Oris said in an interview on dzBB radio.

He said the rain over Metro Manila is expected likely in the afternoon and evening.

The temperature range over Metro Manila will be between 24 and 31 degrees Celsius, he said.

Science Undersecretary Graciano Yumul Jr. said this is due to the tail-end of a cold front suddenly going north.
PAGASA initially said Metro Manila would remain rainy on Monday.

"Ang system na tail-end of a cold front akyat-baba ‘yan. Napakabilis magbago (The tail-end of a cold front goes up and down very quickly)," he said in an interview on dwIZ radio.

PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said a wind convergence is affecting Northern Luzon.

"Northern and Central Luzon will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms," it said.

It said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast and east will prevail over Northern Luzon and coming from the east over the rest of Luzon.

The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough, it said.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said strong to gale-force winds associated with the surge of northeasterly surface wind flow may affect the seaboards of Luzon.

"Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves," it said. –KG, GMA News
