Globe to launch iPhone4S on Dec. 16

The iPhone4S will have its Philippine commercial launch on December 16, according to a statement from Globe Telecom, which has been taking pre-orders for the iPhone4S since December 1.

Globe's bitter rival Smart Communications will also unveil the Apple smartphone on the same day.  

Globe disclosed that it will offer the complete range of Apple mobile devices —from the iPhone3GS to the iPad2 — bundled with mobile service plans.

 

Globe CEO Ernest Cu shared that the telecom company has maintained a formidable partnership with Apple since the launch of the iPhone 3GS in 2008.

 

“Apple has been our strong partner since 2008 and this relationship has allowed Globe to provide our customers with the best deals for the complete Apple product portfolio," Cu said.

 

"Backed by several years of experience in handling Apple mobile devices, Globe is better-equipped to deal with the specific needs that face iPhone users, particularly in mobile data. We have developed offers and services that cater to the mobile browsing habits of a wide variety of consumers,” Cu added.

 

As of end-September 2011, Globe postpaid subscribers numbered at 1.37-M. Meanwhile, the company’s mobile data business presented with revenues accounting for 52% of total mobile service revenues. — with Newsbytes.ph/ATL/ELR, GMA News
