On Monday, an "inaccurate" link provided by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila on their website accidentally sent Marian devotees to a website featuring a scantily clad transvestite "Maria." The announcement called the faithful to go to the Church-run TVMaria website to view the historic live streaming of the installment of Most Rev. Luis Antonio Tagle, D.D. as the new Archbishop of Manila on December 12. However, a simple mistake in the reporting of the site's top-level domain name — ".com" instead of the actual ".net" — instead directed devotees to a transvestite porn website.

"Enter me darling!!" read a message on the TVMaria porn site, which features an image of a drag queen.

The announcement was quickly corrected, with Manila Archdiocese information officer Peachy Yamsuan apologizing for the error.

"I am sorry for the confusion it has caused," a report in Malaya quoted Yamsuan as saying.

The Malaya report said this was not the first time a "confusing" website had used the names of religious personalities.

It said that, in 2004, a pornographic blog site was set up that played on the name of the late Manila Archbishop Jaime Sin. The site in question remains live as of Tuesday. — TJD/HS, GMA News
