PHL accessories featured in Paris Fashion Week
Filipino-made fashion accessories are creating a buzz in time for the Mode à Paris (Fashion Week) Spring-Summer Collection showcase in France this week. A report shown on GMA News TV’s “Balitanghali” on Wednesday said the accessories featured at the Eclat de Mode Trade Show were all made out of local materials, such as seashells and capiz. Among the bestsellers were necklaces made out of capiz and wood, bangles fashioned out of fiber glass, and bracelets with seashells and colored textiles, the report said. Bags made of canvas and leather were also popular among foreigners who viewed and bought in the exhibit. One of the participants in the showcase was Unijel International Trading, Inc., which manufactures and exports “fashionable custom jewelry and accessories.” It has been joining the event for 10 years. Celine Ann Trinidad, who represented Unijel in the exhibit in Paris, told GMA News that their bestsellers include “simple ones” like a necklace bearing a flower made of leather. In an interview with GMA News, a Lebanese customer, Tarek Baghadadi, said he has been buying accessories made in the Philippines for 30 years because “they always have something a little bit of a special touch, different from anybody else’s.” - with Rose-An Jessica Dioquino, VVP, GMA News
