University of Visayas crowned SBP National Under-16 champs

The University of Visayas Baby Lancers defeated Sacred Heart of Jesus Montessori, 120-75, over the weekend to capture the SBP National Under-16 basketball championship at the University of Baguio Gym. The Baby Lancers completed their title bid with a lopsided win over the Cagayan De Oro-based squad, following a 93-87 win over National Capital Region bet University of Santo Tomas in the semifinal round. Andres Paul Desiderio finished with 36 points, seven rebounds and four assists as Leonard Santillan and Ralph Jude Dinolan had 23 and 20 points each as the Lancers dominated the title match. The Baby Lancers totally outclassed Sacred Heart as they led by as many as 37 points in the match. Aside from the title, UV also took home a P30,000 donation from SBP for its school. In the battle for third place, UST overcame St. John Institute of Bacolod, 85-72. - AMD, GMA News
