NCAA Tennis: Letran gets sixth straight win, San Sebastian upsets San Beda

Letran College streaked to its sixth straight victory after sweeping the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers in the National Collegiate Athletic Association men’s lawn tennis tournament at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center in Manila.

It was San Sebastian College though that pulled the biggest surprise of the day after trouncing San Beda College 2-1 in the other featured match.

With the win, the Stags improved to 5-1, creating a tie at the top of the standings with the College of St. Benilde Blazers, while the Red Lions dropped to third at 5-2.

Earlier, the Blazers started the day with a 2-1 victory over the University of Perpetual Help Altas.
 
In the other seniors’ matches, the Mapua Cardinals blanked the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 3-0, for their second win in six games, dealing the Generals their fifth straight setback.

Meanwhile in the juniors division, the Letran Squires duplicated their seniors squad's feat, stomping the Staglets 3-0 to stay on top of the standings with five wins while dropping the Staglets to third place with a 4-1 win-loss slate.
 
Meanwhile, the San Beda Red Cubs waylaid the Junior Blazers, 2-1, to keep pace with the Squires at 5-0.  The Blazers dropped to 4-2 for solo third.
 
The Arellano Baby Chiefs edged the JRU Light Bombers, 2-1, to improve to 3-3, while the Baby Altas swept the EAC Brigadiers, 3-0, for their second win in five games. - AMD, GMA News
