Fil-Ams in New York to hold concert for Sendong victims

Some Filipino-American musicians based in New York will join overseas Filipinos’ efforts to help victims of tropical storm “Sendong” (international name: Washi) by pitching in their talents for a one-night benefit concert.   According to the news site Filipino Reporter, the concert, dubbed “Pag-Ahon (Ascent),” will gather acts such as: respected music director and conductor Michael Dadap, coloratura soprano Lani Misenas-Padua, and the San Lorenzo Ruiz Choir of New York City.   “A night of classical, secular, and original Pilipino music (OPM) will be performed by a diverse roster of noted artists who have been featured all over the United States and other parts of the globe,” the report said.   The event will be held on Saturday (US time), 7:30 p.m., at the Church of St. Joseph on Sixth Avenue in Manhattan, New York.   The concert is presented by a number of organizations, including the College of the Holy Spirit North America Foundation, the De La Salle Alumni Association Metro New York, Inc., and the Catholic Fellowship of Young Filipino Professionals.   The proceeds of the concert will be sent through the Philippine Jesuit Foundation, Inc. in New York for its Sendong Rehabilitation and Reconstruction efforts.   Donation to the show is $20, the release said.   For more information, contact am_zeta7@yahoo.com or slrc.1000@gmail.com. - with Rose-An Jessica Dioquino, VVP, GMA News
