700kg 'mishandled' meat seized in Pasay market
At least 700 kilos of "mishandled" frozen and processed meat was seized during an inspection on a public market in Pasay City early Thursday. The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) inspection team found the 700 kilos of meat improperly handled, radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported. NMIS operatives held the inspection at the Victory Pasay Mall in the Libertad area, the report said. According to the NMIS inspectors, most of the seized meat was not properly stored and instead was exposed to the elements. The report quoted the NMIS inspectors as saying the meat should be placed in freezers to prevent them from being exposed to bacteria and other contaminants. For their part, the vendors complained they were deprived of their source of income because of the raid. — LBG, GMA News
