Kuwaiti couple to be hanged for killing 'Pinay' helper
A Kuwaiti couple was sentenced to death by hanging on Sunday for the murder of their Asian domestic helper, believed to be a Filipina, the Middle East news site Gulf News reported on Monday.
Citing court documents, Gulf News said "the wife maltreated and punished the helper, thought to be a Filipina, daily with the knowledge of her husband."
Aside from the death sentence, the couple would have to pay 5,001 Kuwaiti Dinars (around P767,779) to the Filipina's family.
According to Gulf News, the investigation showed that after one particularly severe beating, the couple took the helper unconscious in their car to an isolated area near a horse stable and dumped her body. They then drove over the maid's body.
One of the couple's sons said his mother often beat the helper and that the last time he saw her she was in terrible condition.
