While the rest of the country can expect relatively improved weather, rain still looms over extreme Northern Luzon and Mindanao for Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

PAGASA said a tail-end of a cold front is affecting extreme Northern Luzon while the easterlies—winds from the east—are affecting Mindanao.

"Itong tail-end of cold front apektado ang mga lalawigan sa dulong hilagang Luzon," PAGASA forecaster Elvie Enriquez said in an interview on dzBB radio.

She also said this may bring rain showers and thunderstorms to extreme Northern Luzon, while easterly winds may similarly bring rain to Mindanao.

PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said extreme Northern Luzon and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

"The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms," it said.

Moderate to strong winds from the east to southeast will blow over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east, making seas slight to moderate.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said winds from the northeast monsoon had weakened.

"Fishing boats and other small seacraft are alerted against moderate to rough seas," it said. –KG, GMA News
