Rain looms over the northern and eastern parts of the country while weather systems affect extreme northern Luzon and Mindanao in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Sunday afternoon. PAGASA said a frontal system is affecting extreme northern Luzon while the easterlies or winds from the east are prevailing over Mindanao. "Northern and the eastern section of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of the Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms," it said in its 5 p.m. bulletin. A front is defined as an interface or transition zone, between two air masses of different density. A front usually separates air masses of different temperature. Meanwhile, PAGASA said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas. - KBK, GMA News
