Apple fixes OSX Lion sleep bug

Apple Inc. has rolled out a bug update to fix a problem in computers running its Mac OS X Lion (10.7.3) that may prevent Wi-Fi connections after waking from sleep.

The problem affected iMac systems from late 2009 or newer, where users found their system would not connect to their preferred wireless network after sleep, tech site CNET reported.

“Keep in mind that this update is only for the iMac systems, and will not work in other systems experiencing similar problems,” it said.

CNET said that while the problem was not serious, it caused frustration among some users who had to manually reconnect, or use script-based workarounds.

It said the update, a 26-MB download, replaces a “faulty driver” that shipped with OS X.

Users can access the fix via their Software Update utility. The update will require OS X 10.7.3 to install, CNET said. — TJD, GMA News
