UP poll on Corona irked Miriam
Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago on Wednesday lashed at the University of the Philippines (UP) students who were behind the survey showing Chief Justice Renato Corona no longer enjoys the trust of many of the state university’s students. Speaking on the 26th day of Corona’s impeachment trial in the Senate, the feisty Santiago said the students should be “kicked out immediately” as the survey was “a perpetual shame to the university.” “’Yung balita kanina sa isang dyaryo… Kayong UP [students] kayo, dapat i-kick out immediately, if you are true actual person you do not deserve to be in UP,” she said. According to reports, the survey, conducted by the UP Paralegal Society, showed 76 of UP Diliman students who participated in the survey said they do not trust Corona. It also reportedly showed that 75 of the participating students saw Corona as unfit to remain in the Supreme Court. Santiago said the survey “was not conducted by reliable sources.” “Grabe naman. Sino naman ang PR firm na nag-isip nito? You are playing games,” she added. Santiago noted that she wants to "leave a legacy” of standing up for her beliefs. “I want to leave a legacy that when presented by this trial [is an] anomaly, I stand to condemn it.” - Rouchelle Dinglasan/KBK, GMA News
