To ensure a fair distribution of relief goods among families in Negros affected by last month's magnitude-6.9 quake, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has started distributing Family Access Cards (FACs) in the affected areas.   A news release on the DSWD website on Saturday said the FACs will serve as an identification card for availing of assistance.   The information contained in the FACs include:

  • family composition
  • address
  • kind of assistance received from different agencies, and
  • signatures of the head of the family, social workers, and concerned LGU officials.
The DSWD said the FACs will help determine the kind of assistance already provided to a family.   The FACs will ensure that government resources will be equally shared among those in need, the DSWD said.   Aside from relief goods, psycho-social interventions/counseling, medical, livelihood, and shelter assistance were also provided to the affected families.   The DSWD has so far provided relief assistance to some 64,886 families (or 317,517 earthquake victims) from the 169 barangays hit by the February 6 quake. - VVP, GMA News
