Pinoy execs in Macau promoting PHL as ideal destination for college educ

At the Macau Education Fair 2012, Philippine officials in Macau made a pitch for the Philippines as an ideal destination for college education.   According to the Philippine Consulate General in Macau, the Macau Education Fair 2012 ran from February 24 to 26 at The Venetian-Macau.   "The Consulate sought to attract students from Macau as well as those from the Pan-Pearl River Delta region of China by highlighting the Philippine universities' internationally-recognized curriculum, English-language instructions, and widely recognized strengths in areas of medicine, dentistry, nursing and allied sciences, social sciences, agriculture, law, information technology, the arts, (and) maritime studies," the Department of Foreign Affairs said in a news release.    This year's education fair featured numerous leading institutions from 18 countries including the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Germany, France, and the United States.   According to the DFA, the Philippine Consulate's booth featured the following Philippine universities:

  • Ateneo de Manila University
  • University of the Philippines-Diliman
  • Southern Luzon State University
  • University of the East
  • Far Eastern University
  • Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation
  • University of Baguio
  • Philippine Christian University
  • University of San Carlos, and
  • Centro Escolar University.
  "Several universities like the Ateneo de Manila, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation and the Southern Luzon State University sent their representatives to market their respective schools at the Consulate's booth," the DFA said.   The Consulate also gave out brochures of different universities, as well as information about course offerings, admission requirements, visa issuance, and other details about living and studying in the Philippines.   Meanwhile, the Consulate also promoted major Philippine tourist destinations as part of the overall strategy to attract foreign visitors to the Philippines. - VVP, GMA News
