Some 60 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Macau benefited from a financial literacy seminar conducted by the Philippine Consulate General there, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.   The seminar was held on March 8 in partnership with three Filipino organizations there, as part of the consulate's gender and development program. Dubbed "Financial Literacy for OFW's: Learning from the Case of OFW's in Korea," the seminar started with the viewing of the financial literacy video from the Philippine Embassy in Seoul, Korea.   In a news release, the DFA said the financial literacy seminar aims to develop awareness among OFWs in Macau on the importance of financial management, particularly the value of saving and investing for the future.   It was the first of a series of seminars to be conducted this year under the Gender and Development Program of the consulate.   An open forum followed, with representatives from the Social Security System (SSS), Pag-IBIG, Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA).   Representatives from the government agencies gave a briefing on the savings and benefits program of their respective agencies.   Housing and business loans, as well as investment opportunities were likewise discussed to give Filipino workers various options on where to put their hard-earned money.   "Three Filipino organizations - Every Nation Church-Macau, Sto. Niño de Cebu in Macau Association, and the Loved Flock-Macau - were instrumental in bringing together some 60 members of their organizations to attend the seminar in order to identify and address the financial problems that OFWs and their families commonly encounter," the DFA said. - VVP, GMA News
