PHL joins world jewelry fair in Switzerland

The Philippines took part in the 40th Baselworld in Switzerland, the leading watch and jewelry fair in the world, from March 8 to 15. In a news release, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Philippine jewelry maker Jewelmer is representing the Philippines in the event participated in by 1,815 exhibitors from 41 countries.   "Jewelmer has been participating in Baselworld since its inception and has been successfully promoting the country's national gem, the Philippine South Sea pearls,"  the Philippine Embassy in Berne said.   According to its website, Baselworld said about 100,000 visitors from the specialist retail and wholesale trade make their way to Basel to view the latest watch and jewelry creations.   "The presentation staged at BASELWORLD is truly unique, providing an opportunity to experience brand worlds at the topmost level," it said. - VVP, GMA News
