PBA D-League: Boracay Rum trips Junior Powerade to nail 1st win
Boracay Rum finally nailed its win in the 2012 PBA D-League Foundation Cup, scoring a 64-60 triumph over Junior Powerade Tuesday afternoon at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City. Ken Acibar had 10 of his 17 points in the fourth period to lead the Waves' comeback win, a victory that ended Boracay Rum's three-game slump. "We really had a difficult time to just win a game," said Waves coach Lawrence Chongson. "Just searching for that first win, it took us four games. We just couldn't solve our end game collapse. But it was a good thing that it was our turn to comeback." Junior Powerade had a 54-45 lead after Claude Cubo's lay-up capped a 9-0 run with five minutes and 28 seconds left in the game but the Tigers just made one field goal following that sequence. Ezer Rosopa's twinner started the Waves' comeback while Acibar made six straight markers. Kokoy Hermosisima split his free throws while Acibar made it a one-point game, 57-56, in favor of Junior Powerade. Toto Bandaying scored on a medium-ranged jumper to put the Waves ahead, 58-57, with 1:39 left in the game. Acibar made another twinner with 69 seconds left to increase the lead to three points. Junior Powerade was held to six points to trail by five, 29-24, at the turn. The Tigers came storming back to grab the lead after the third, 43-40. However, the Tigers couldn't sustain their play as they fell to a 2-2 win-loss record. — JVP, GMA News Scores:
