'Asian' prison cook in UAE jailed for drugs

A long-serving jail cook, described as "Asian," will be staying longer in prison, this time as a prisoner after he was caught distributing drugs to inmates. According to a report of the news site Emirates 24/7, prison officials began observing the cook after receiving a tip.  The police later found drugs wrapped in plastic paper and hidden in the meals distributed by the cook to some inmates. The court imposed on him a Dh50,000 penalty. He was also ordered deported from the UAE after serving his jail term.  The report said one prisoner received an additional four-year jail time for taking drugs and another inmate was fined Dh1,000 for failing to report his friend. - VVP, GMA News
